Acupuncture

There is a great deal of information explaining the scientific basis of acupuncture, but perhaps it can best be described as a rebalancing of the body's energy.  Therefore, diverse conditions such as musculoskeletal pain, nerve paralysis, renal failure, diarrhea and nausea can be treated with this modality.  For patients undergoing chemotherapy, acupuncture can be very useful in counteracting nausea and stimulating appetite.  Because endorphins are released as a result of acupuncture, it is generally a relaxing treatment for the patient, making both patient and owner happy!

Herbal Therapy

Like acupuncture, the aim of herbal therapy is to balance the body with respect to each individual's unique condition.  Because of the focus on balance, sometimes we see results without the side effects that sometimes occur with Western medicines.  Herbals are often used alongside Western medicines to counteract unwanted side effects, or allow for more tolerable doses.  Examples of diseases which can benefit from herbal medicine include chronic renal failure, chronic urinary tract infections, bronchitis/asthma, inflammatory bowel disease, liver disease, early cushings disease, diabetes (along with insulin), skin disease/itching and sometimes even behavioral problems/anxiety.
